The chart room
Data nobody thought to draw.
Five ways of seeing 96 years of World Cups — every pixel computed live from the verified archive. Save any chart as a shareable image.
01 · The 90-minute clock
When goals happen
All 3,028 goals in the archive plotted by minute around one clock face. Added-time goals stack in amber on top of their base minute, so the stoppage-time spike at 45' and 90' becomes visible. Filter it and watch the clock change.
Added time was only officially recorded from 1990 onward. Goals logged at a flat 45' or 90' in earlier tournaments may in fact have been stoppage-time goals — the archive records them as the referee's era recorded them.

02 · Stadium fingerprint
Every venue has a shape
Six dimensions, normalised against the all-time record in each — matches, goals per game, average crowd, peak crowd, extra time, shootouts. Overlay two venues and compare their DNA.
03 · The full-house index
How full were the stands?
Matches with recorded attendance and capacity, grouped by edition in 5% fullness bands. Higher means fuller. Gold dots went past 100% — more people than the ground officially held. Dot size scales with the number of matches.
Hover any dot for the edition, fullness band and match count. Attendance records are patchy in early editions — missing matches are simply not plotted.
04 · Comeback heartbeat
The anatomy of a comeback
Explore 20 featured recoveries, then watch the scoreline as a pulse — below the line is trouble, above the line is the recovery. Dots are goals. Includes sides that equalised and won the shootout.

05 · The late-drama index
Is football getting more clutch?
Each bar is one World Cup, split by when its goals arrived: first half, second half, or the 90th minute and beyond. The gold band is pure late drama — and it has been growing.

The guessing game
Call it before you see it.
Twelve numbers from 96 years of World Cups. Commit to a guess, lock it in, then find out how wrong you were. Every answer is computed live from the archive.
Ask is useful only if you can see what sits underneath it. These are the archive boundaries, historical conventions, source methodology and limitations used by every computed answer.

Sources & verification
The archive is curated from public historical sources rather than generated from model memory.
Wikipedia used as the primary compilation layer
FIFA documentation used for cross-checks
RSSSF used for historical cross-checks
Ask calculates against the embedded archive; it does not silently add web facts to the result
Historical lineages
Team totals use explicit lineage rules so historical records are reproducible.
West Germany (FRG) → Germany (GER)
Czechoslovakia (TCH) → Czechia (CZE)
Yugoslavia (YUG) → Serbia (SRB)
Soviet Union (URS) → Russia (RUS)
East Germany (GDR) remains separate
Methodology conventions
Some historical questions require a defined rule. The application states these assumptions instead of hiding them.
The Uruguay–Brazil decider in 1950 is tagged as the tournament Final
The other 1950 final-round matches remain “Final Round”, not Finals
Match goal totals exclude penalty-shootout kicks
Venue goals-per-match rankings require at least 5 matches
Added-time detail is treated as reliable from 1990 onward
Currently unsupported
Ask refuses questions that the current fields cannot support reliably.
Player appearances, starts and minutes played
Player goals-per-match / scoring-rate metrics
Yellow and red cards
Referees and coaching staff
Assists and xG-style event data
Exact fastest/latest goal records requiring seconds
Goal-event limits
The goal layer is rich, but it has explicit precision boundaries.
Scorers, scoring teams, opponents and venues are linked
Own-goal flags are stored
Goal time is stored to the minute, not the second
Added time is explicitly represented where recorded
A player's distinct scoring matches are “matches scored in”, never appearances

What “computed” means
The language model is not trusted as the source of the statistic.
Your question is interpreted into an archive query
The calculation runs against the structured World Cup data
The computed result is the authoritative evidence
The model then writes a short answer from that result
The computed result table is shown directly beneath the written answer whenever tabular data is available
Publication use
The trust layer is designed to make checking easier, not to eliminate editorial verification.
Copy a stable question link to reproduce a query
